Mechanic Agreement
Version 1.0 — published 27/09/2026
This Mechanic Agreement ("Agreement") applies to mechanics, garages, technicians and automotive repair businesses ("Mechanic", "you" or "your") who register for, accept work through, or otherwise use the Get My Mechanic platform.
Get My Mechanic is operated by O J WARD LIMITED ("Get My Mechanic", "GMM", "we", "us" or "our").
By registering as a Mechanic, accepting this Agreement or accepting work through Get My Mechanic, you agree to comply with this Agreement together with the applicable Terms of Service, Privacy Policy and any other policies displayed on the platform.
1. Role of Get My Mechanic
Get My Mechanic operates an online marketplace that connects customers requiring vehicle maintenance or repair services with independent mechanics and automotive businesses.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, Get My Mechanic does not itself carry out the vehicle repair or maintenance work booked through the platform.
The contract for the performance of the mechanical work is between the Mechanic and the customer, subject to the booking and payment arrangements operated through Get My Mechanic.
2. Independent Business Status
You operate as an independent business and not as an employee, worker, agent, partner or representative of Get My Mechanic.
You are responsible for your own business activities, taxation, National Insurance, VAT obligations, licences, insurance, equipment, tools, transport and any employees or subcontractors you use.
Nothing in this Agreement creates an employment relationship between you and Get My Mechanic.
3. Eligibility and Mechanic Information
You must provide accurate, complete and current information when registering and while using the platform.
You must only accept work that you have the skills, experience, tools, facilities and legal authority to perform safely and competently.
Where requested, you must provide evidence of relevant qualifications, trade experience, identification, business details, insurance or other information reasonably required by Get My Mechanic.
Get My Mechanic may approve experienced mechanics where formal qualifications are unavailable, provided we are reasonably satisfied that sufficient relevant experience or competence has been demonstrated.
You must promptly update any information that becomes inaccurate or out of date.
4. Insurance
You are responsible for maintaining insurance appropriate to the work you perform.
This may include, where applicable, public liability insurance, motor trade insurance, road risks insurance, employer's liability insurance and cover for customer vehicles while they are in your custody or control.
You must not accept or carry out a booking where doing so would leave you uninsured or in breach of the terms of your insurance policy.
We may request evidence of valid insurance at any time.
5. Accepting Jobs
You are not required to accept every job offered through the platform.
Once you accept a booking, you agree to make reasonable efforts to attend and complete it at the agreed date, time and location.
Before accepting a job, you should review the vehicle information, requested work, labour allowance, parts requirements, location and any other relevant booking information.
If you believe the job description, labour time or parts information is incorrect or insufficient, you should raise this before starting work wherever reasonably possible.
6. Vehicle Information
Vehicle information provided through registration lookup, VIN lookup, third-party data providers or customer information is intended to assist with identification and quoting.
You remain responsible for confirming that the vehicle, engine, component and parts are correct before fitting parts or carrying out work.
You must not rely blindly on automated vehicle or parts information where physical inspection or professional judgement indicates that the information may be incorrect.
7. Prices and Quotes
Prices shown to customers may include labour, parts, VAT where applicable, platform charges and other authorised amounts.
You must not deliberately provide false, misleading or artificially inflated information in connection with a quote or booking.
Where you supply the parts price or labour requirement, you are responsible for ensuring that the information is reasonable and accurate to the best of your knowledge.
8. Get My Mechanic Platform Fee
Get My Mechanic currently charges a platform commission equal to 20% of the applicable booking amount, unless a different commission rate has been expressly agreed with you in writing or displayed to you by the platform.
The amount payable to you will be calculated after deduction of the applicable Get My Mechanic platform commission and any other clearly disclosed charges, refunds, adjustments or payment-provider deductions that apply to the booking.
The platform fee may be calculated automatically by Get My Mechanic's systems.
If our commission structure changes in future, the new rate will be communicated to you before it applies to new bookings.
9. Parts
Parts may be sourced by the Mechanic, customer, Get My Mechanic or an approved parts supplier depending on the booking.
You must check that any part is suitable for the vehicle before fitting it.
You must not knowingly fit incorrect, counterfeit, unsafe or unsuitable components.
If a quoted part is unavailable or the correct component is materially more expensive than originally quoted, you must follow the Additional Work process before incurring an additional customer charge.
Where parts are supplied by you, you are responsible for dealing with any applicable supplier warranty, subject to the customer's statutory rights.
10. Additional Work and Customer Approval
If additional work, labour or parts become necessary after the booking has been accepted, you must not charge the customer for that additional work unless it has been properly authorised.
You must submit the additional work through the Get My Mechanic additional-work approval process where available.
The customer must be shown the additional labour, parts and revised total and must give approval before the additional charge is treated as authorised.
You must not carry out chargeable additional work without approval except where immediate action is reasonably necessary to prevent an imminent safety risk or further serious damage. Where such an exceptional situation arises, you should document the circumstances and contact the customer and Get My Mechanic as soon as possible.
11. Payment
Customer payments may be collected and processed through Get My Mechanic and its payment service providers.
You agree that Get My Mechanic and its payment providers may receive customer funds, deduct authorised platform charges and arrange payment of the balance due to you.
Your payout may depend on completion of any identity, business, bank-account or payment-provider onboarding requirements.
Payment timing may depend on the payment method, payment provider, booking status, disputes, refunds, chargebacks, fraud reviews and banking processing times.
Get My Mechanic is not responsible for delays caused solely by banks or external payment processors outside our reasonable control.
12. Completion of Work
You should accurately update the booking status as work progresses.
You must not mark a job as completed when material work included in the agreed booking has not been completed.
Where appropriate, you should provide the customer with information about work completed, parts fitted and any further faults or advisory items identified.
13. Standard of Work
You must carry out all work with reasonable care and skill and in accordance with applicable law, recognised industry practices and relevant manufacturer requirements where reasonably applicable.
You are responsible for the quality and safety of the mechanical work you personally perform or arrange through your business.
You must not knowingly return an unsafe vehicle to a customer without clearly informing them of the known safety issue.
14. Diagnostics
Where a booking involves diagnosis, fault finding or investigation, you must exercise reasonable professional judgement.
A diagnostic booking does not necessarily guarantee that a fault can be conclusively identified within the original booked time.
Where further diagnostic work is required, any additional charge must be approved through the appropriate customer authorisation process.
15. Customer Property
You must take reasonable care of customer vehicles, keys, parts and other property while they are in your possession or control.
You must not use a customer vehicle for any purpose unrelated to carrying out, testing or verifying the authorised repair.
16. Road Testing
You may road-test a customer vehicle where reasonably necessary for diagnosis, repair or verification of the work.
You must only road-test a vehicle where you are legally permitted and appropriately insured to do so.
17. Cancellations and Non-Attendance
If you cannot attend an accepted booking, you must notify Get My Mechanic and the customer as soon as reasonably possible through the available platform process.
Repeated late cancellations, unexplained non-attendance or misuse of the booking system may result in restrictions or suspension of your account.
Any cancellation charges or compensation will be governed by the cancellation rules displayed on the platform at the relevant time.
18. Customer Cancellations
Where a customer cancels a booking, any payment or cancellation entitlement will be handled according to Get My Mechanic's applicable cancellation policy and the circumstances of the booking.
You must not independently charge a customer an undisclosed cancellation fee outside the platform.
19. Refunds, Complaints and Disputes
If a customer raises a complaint concerning work completed through Get My Mechanic, you agree to cooperate reasonably with Get My Mechanic in investigating the matter.
We may request photographs, diagnostic reports, invoices, parts information, messages or other evidence relating to a disputed booking.
Where appropriate, you may be given an opportunity to inspect or rectify work you have performed.
Get My Mechanic may facilitate communication and dispute resolution but does not replace the legal rights and obligations that exist between the customer and Mechanic.
20. Chargebacks and Payment Reversals
If a customer payment is reversed, charged back or refunded because of a substantiated issue attributable to your work, conduct or failure to perform the booking, amounts already paid to you may become repayable.
Where permitted by law and the applicable payment arrangements, Get My Mechanic may offset properly due amounts against future payouts.
You will be given reasonable information about any material deduction or adjustment.
21. Customer Communication
You must communicate with customers professionally and honestly.
You must not harass, threaten, discriminate against or deliberately mislead customers.
You should use the platform's communication facilities where reasonably possible so that important booking information and approvals can be recorded.
22. Off-Platform Transactions and Circumvention
You must not use information obtained through Get My Mechanic for the primary purpose of deliberately avoiding platform fees on a booking introduced through Get My Mechanic.
You must not ask a customer to cancel an active Get My Mechanic booking solely so that the same work can be completed privately in order to avoid the applicable platform commission.
This clause does not prevent a customer from independently contacting or engaging you in future where permitted by law, but active Get My Mechanic bookings and authorised additional work must be handled through the platform unless Get My Mechanic agrees otherwise.
23. Reviews and Ratings
Customers may be invited to leave ratings or reviews following completed bookings.
You must not manipulate reviews, create false customer accounts, offer improper incentives for misleading reviews or threaten customers concerning feedback.
Get My Mechanic may remove reviews where there is reasonable evidence that they are fraudulent, abusive, unlawful or unrelated to a genuine platform experience.
24. Mechanic Profile
You are responsible for ensuring that information shown on your mechanic profile is accurate.
Get My Mechanic may display information including your trading name, profile image, service area, experience, qualifications, ratings, completed-job information and other information relevant to customers choosing or reviewing a Mechanic.
25. Photos and Evidence
You may be asked to upload photographs or other evidence relating to a booking.
You must not upload unlawful, misleading or irrelevant material.
Where photographs include customer vehicles, registration numbers or other personal information, you must only use them for legitimate booking or business purposes and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
26. Customer Data
You may receive personal information about customers solely because it is necessary to carry out a booking.
You must only use that information for legitimate purposes connected with the booking, customer service, legal obligations or another lawful business purpose.
You must not sell customer information or use Get My Mechanic customer data for unsolicited mass marketing.
27. Confidential Information
You must keep confidential any non-public commercial, technical, security or customer information obtained through the platform where that information would reasonably be considered confidential.
28. Platform Security
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
You must not share your login with unauthorised persons or attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user, system or part of the Get My Mechanic platform.
You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
29. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- submit false qualifications, insurance documents or identity information;
- accept work you know you cannot safely or competently perform;
- deliberately misrepresent parts, labour or repairs;
- charge customers for work that was not performed;
- fit parts you know to be counterfeit or unsafe;
- misuse customer payment information;
- manipulate platform bookings, reviews or pricing systems;
- circumvent payment controls relating to active platform bookings;
- use the platform for unlawful activity; or
- interfere with the security or operation of Get My Mechanic.
30. Account Suspension and Removal
Get My Mechanic may suspend, restrict or terminate a Mechanic account where there is a reasonable basis to believe that:
- this Agreement has been materially breached;
- customer safety may be at risk;
- required insurance is not in place;
- fraud or serious misconduct may have occurred;
- the Mechanic repeatedly fails to attend accepted bookings;
- the Mechanic has provided materially false information;
- payment-provider or legal requirements prevent continued use of the platform; or
- continued access would create a material legal, financial, reputational or safety risk.
Where reasonably possible and appropriate, we will explain the reason for a material restriction or suspension.
31. Temporary Suspension During Investigation
Where a serious complaint, safety concern, suspected fraud or payment dispute is being investigated, Get My Mechanic may temporarily restrict bookings or payouts while the matter is reviewed.
We will aim to deal with such matters reasonably and without unnecessary delay.
32. Your Responsibility for Employees and Subcontractors
If you use an employee, assistant or subcontractor to perform work booked through Get My Mechanic, you remain responsible for ensuring that person is suitably competent, insured and legally entitled to carry out the work.
You remain responsible for their conduct in connection with the booking.
33. Taxes and VAT
You are responsible for determining and meeting your own tax obligations arising from payments received through Get My Mechanic.
If you are VAT registered, you are responsible for providing accurate VAT information and accounting for VAT as required by law.
Get My Mechanic does not provide personal tax advice to Mechanics.
34. Records
You should retain appropriate business records relating to work performed, parts supplied, invoices, approvals and payments for the period required by applicable law.
Get My Mechanic may also retain booking and transaction records in accordance with its legal obligations and Privacy Policy.
35. Availability of the Platform
We aim to keep Get My Mechanic available and functioning reliably, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
The platform may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical faults, third-party services or events outside our reasonable control.
36. Third-Party Services
Get My Mechanic may rely on third-party providers for services including payments, vehicle data, parts information, communications, mapping, hosting and identity verification.
Information supplied by third-party services may occasionally be incomplete, delayed or incorrect.
Mechanics must continue to exercise professional judgement when relying on third-party information.
37. Limitation of Get My Mechanic's Responsibility
Nothing in this Agreement excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to those exceptions, Get My Mechanic is not responsible for losses caused by the Mechanic's defective workmanship, incorrect diagnosis, unsafe repair, incorrect part selection, failure to attend, breach of law or breach of this Agreement.
Get My Mechanic is also not responsible for indirect or consequential business losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the relevant booking was made.
38. Mechanic Responsibility
You are responsible for losses, claims, damage or reasonable costs arising directly from your unlawful conduct, negligence, defective workmanship, fraudulent conduct or material breach of this Agreement.
This does not make you responsible for losses caused by Get My Mechanic's own negligence, breach of law or misconduct.
39. Changes to the Agreement
Get My Mechanic may update this Agreement where necessary because of changes to the platform, payment arrangements, legislation, regulation or business processes.
Each published version will have its own version identifier.
Where a material new version requires renewed acceptance, Mechanics may be required to accept that version before continuing to use mechanic functions on the platform.
40. Previous Versions
Get My Mechanic may retain records showing which version of this Agreement each Mechanic accepted and the date or time of acceptance.
41. Ending Your Mechanic Account
You may stop accepting new work and request closure of your Mechanic account, subject to completion of outstanding bookings, disputes, refunds, payment obligations or legal record-retention requirements.
Ending your account does not remove obligations relating to work previously completed through the platform.
42. Notices and Communications
We may communicate important platform or Agreement information through email, account notifications or notices displayed within Get My Mechanic.
You are responsible for keeping your contact information up to date.
43. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.
44. No Waiver
If Get My Mechanic does not immediately enforce a provision of this Agreement, that does not mean the provision has been waived.
45. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of England and Wales.
The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction over disputes arising from this Agreement, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply.
46. Contact
